Herpa Airport Apron Plates 558969-001: Two-Plate Size and What Is Included

Herpa HE558969-001 is a set of two 1:200 ground plates, each measuring 50 by 50 centimeters—approximately 19.7 inches square. It is not a complete airport with aircraft and a tower included. Plan a substantial flat surface before selecting it as the base for a display.

Two plates, not one small desk mat
The Apron/Tower Plates, HE558969-001, supply the printed ground surfaces. Two 50-centimeter squares placed edge to edge occupy a 100-by-50-centimeter rectangle, approximately 39.4 by 19.7 inches, before adding a border.
That calculation describes the space required by two squares, not a guarantee that the graphics connect correctly in every orientation. Check the printed layout when choosing how to arrange the plates.
Measure the usable tabletop between raised edges or supports. A shelf that holds several aircraft individually may still be too shallow to support this base without overhang.
The tower and aircraft are separate purchases
Tower in the product name identifies an area of the ground layout, not an included three-dimensional building. The set does not come with aircraft or other accessories.
Choose this offer when you already have—or intend to select—individual 1:200 models and want a coordinated ground setting. Do not calculate its value as though the price includes every aircraft that could be pictured in an illustrative airport scene.
The printed surface also does not create functional lighting or an operating airport. Buildings, vehicles and any protective cover require separate planning.

Up to seven marked positions is not a universal capacity
Herpa describes parking positions for up to seven aircraft models. Actual usable capacity depends on the aircraft footprints and the clearance you leave between them.
A Crossair Saab 340, HE573252, occupies a different outline from a QantasLink A220-300, HE573184. Both are 1:200, but that does not make their wingspans identical.
Try paper outlines of the intended models before buying enough aircraft to fill every marking. Allow room for handling and any ground equipment instead of placing wingtips against each other merely to reach the maximum count.
Confirm material before choosing permanent mounting
The store title and description call the plates cardboard, while the manufacturer's product material field identifies plastic. The exact substrate, thickness and rigidity therefore need confirmation before purchasing specifically for a mounting technique that depends on those properties.
Do not assume a rigid board, a rollable mat, a self-adhesive backing or a waterproof surface. Start with a flat supporting surface and confirm care and mounting instructions before using adhesive or applying scenic materials.
Keep the surrounding scene in 1:200
The Iberia Regional ATR 72-600 is another same-scale aircraft option. Herpa's 1:500 container loaders and 1:87 mobile offices are different scales, not automatically matching additions to this apron.
Choose the plates for a planned 1:200 scene with enough tabletop space. Confirm the material where it affects your project, budget for the aircraft and buildings separately, and treat the printed parking count as a layout feature rather than a fit guarantee.
