AFX HO layout planning
Expand the track without mixing systems
Plan the course first, identify the exact AFX track geometry, then add clips, barriers and supports that solve a specific layout problem.
The safe expansion order
-
Measure the space
Record the usable length and width, plus room to reach corners and controls.
-
Sketch the route
Choose where straights, curves, crossovers, chicanes, squeeze sections and elevation changes belong.
-
Match the system
Use AFX HO sections and exact manufacturer part numbers. Similar scale alone is not proof of fit.
-
Secure the joints
Add the appropriate AFX track clips when a larger or frequently moved layout needs stronger connections.
-
Add protection
Use barriers and catch fencing where cars can leave the course, while preserving adequate clearance.
-
Test one change
Run the layout after each expansion so a connection, power or geometry problem is easy to isolate.

Track Clips 1014
A 100-pack for larger layouts or builders who reconfigure track regularly.
Understand section geometry before buying
A part number identifies a specific length, radius, arc or specialty function. A nine-inch quarter curve is not the same as a nine-inch eighth curve. A crisscross, squeeze section, chicane and hairpin each changes how lanes and cars interact. Compare the exact listing rather than buying by the word “curve” or “track.”
Auto World HO requires exact-listing verification
Some Auto World HO track and supports currently state compatibility with Auto World and Tomy/AFX track on their individual product pages. That claim applies only to the exact item that states it; it does not make every Auto World car, controller, power component or replacement part interchangeable with AFX.
