’67 Camaro Convertible: Casting Info & Complete Collector’s Guide

Hot Wheels introduced this opening-hood Camaro Convertible in 2006. Its metal body and detailed chassis carried through a run of 21 documented finish and release variations, from the flame-decorated Ultra Hots and Spectraflame Classics to Walgreens two-packs, Kar Keepers, Summer Racin’, and Mardi Gras. Paint, interior, wheels, and package separate cars that share the same casting.

What is the Hot Wheels ’67 Camaro Convertible?

This is a 1:64-scale Hot Wheels interpretation of the first-generation Camaro with an open-top body. The 2006 version has an opening hood, metal body and metal base, with a plastic interior and windshield. Later releases kept the convertible tooling while changing the finish, decoration, wheels, base material, and packaging.

The code J2763 identifies the 2006 Classics Series 2 casting, but it does not identify one paint version by itself. The Classics run includes several Spectraflame colors, plus steel-blue and black examples associated with collector sets. Check the interior and stripe color along with the finish before assigning a specific variation.

Physical details

The 2006 casting has a metal body, metal base, plastic interior, clear windshield, and an opening hood. That hood is a useful casting feature, but base and interior details changed on later releases. The Walgreens two-pack cars use a chrome-plastic base, while many earlier versions have a metal base.

Wheel styles vary from the Classics’ Goodyear five-spoke wheels to Ultra Hots redline wheels and the seven-spoke wheels on the Walgreens cars. Identify the actual wheel and base on the car in hand; a series name alone does not settle the variation.

Packaging and release context

Packaging helps separate the shared codes. The Classics cars belong to Series 2, number 7 of 30; the black version also appears in the HWC Classics 30-car set. Later examples came in Ultra Hots retail packaging, Kar Keepers, Since ’68 assortments and tins, Walgreens two-packs, Summer Racin’, and the 2011 Mardi Gras series.

For a loose car, note paint wear, wheel swaps, hood fit, and missing parts separately from its factory identity. A card or set box can confirm the original assortment, but it cannot establish the present condition of a loose example.

Value research

Compare the same finish, wheel type, and release package before assessing a sale. Spectraflame Classics, set releases, and retail two-packs are different records even when the body and toy number overlap. Condition, completeness, and packaging have a direct effect on comparisons; this guide does not assign one price to the entire family.

’67 Camaro Convertible collector questions

Does J2763 identify just one color?

No. J2763 appears across multiple Classics Series 2 finishes. Interior color, stripe treatment, and set packaging help distinguish them.

Which version has the opening hood?

The 2006 ’67 Camaro Convertible casting is documented with an opening hood. Check the individual release guide for its base, interior, and wheel combination.

Are the Walgreens two-pack cars the same as the metal-base Classics?

No. The 2007 Walgreens versions have a chrome-plastic base and seven-spoke wheels, while the Classics cars use a metal base and Goodyear five-spoke wheels.

What is the 2011 pearl-white version?

It is the Mardi Gras #2 release. Pink, purple, and gold decoration, the Mardi Gras hood marking, and ten-spoke gold wheels distinguish it from the earlier Classics and two-pack cars.
