The First Super Treasure Hunt Year: Hot Wheels' 2007 Parallel Sets

The first Super Treasure Hunt year was 2007, with a parallel twelve-car program—not a single ’67 Camaro release. The regular Treasure Hunts and Supers shared vehicle names and series numbering while differing in features.

Start with the correct 2007 checklist

The documented Super set contains ’69 Pontiac GTO, Nissan Skyline, ’69 Camaro Z28, Corvette C6R, Mega Thrust, Hammer Sled, Brutalistic, Jaded, Enzo Ferrari, Custom ’69 Chevy, Cadillac V16 and Evil Twin. The reference places the GTO at 1/12 and the Camaro at 3/12. Photographed Super checklist.

A series position is not, by itself, proof of which individual car first reached every market. Keep that distinction when someone advertises the first Super.

Regular and Super are separate purchases

The companion regular Treasure Hunt checklist identifies the matching vehicles and numbering. Compare the actual finish, wheel configuration and package with the correct version.

The Super reference describes the dollar-sign spelling on the green card stripe. A package cue should agree with the car inside; it is not a reason to ignore a mismatched or modified vehicle.

Keep three historical facts distinct

The earlier Treasure Hunt program and the later Super category are different milestones. The 2007 Camaro in this set is the ’69 Camaro Z28, not the ’67 Camaro associated with an earlier Treasure Hunt release.

And 2007 was not the fortieth anniversary of a brand introduced in 1968; that anniversary falls in 2008. Accurate dates matter when a purchase is being justified by a historical claim.

Inspect condition before assigning a premium

Request photographs of both sides, roof, underside and package. Look at the finish closely and record any wear, flaking, touch-up or replacement parts. The 2007 reference specifically notes paint-flaking problems among examples, so condition deserves attention rather than an assumption of uniform preservation.

A carefully described loose car, a sealed example and a restored model belong in different comparison groups. An aftermarket wheel swap does not make an ordinary car a factory Super.

Compare completed transactions for the exact edition

Record the version, condition, package and sale date. Do not transfer the price of an exceptional example to every matching casting or treat a seller's unsold asking price as a transaction.
