Do Herpa Aircraft Include Stands? Landing Gear and Display Choices

Some Herpa aircraft include a stand and others do not—even within the same scale. An included undercarriage is a different feature from a display support. Read the exact release's contents before buying a gift that must arrive with an elevated display option.

Examples with a documented stand

The QantasLink A220-300 VH-X4B, HE573184, includes a stand. Its product image shows both the support and the finished aircraft, making it a useful option for a straightforward airline display.

The 1:200 Iberia Regional ATR 72-600, HE573313, also lists a stand. For a military subject in a larger scale, the 1:72 VTX-TS Alpha Jet, HE580861, documents both landing gear and a stand.

Those examples give a buyer a starting point when a supplied support matters. They do not establish that every Herpa airliner or 1:72 aircraft has the same package contents.

Landing gear without a stand

The 1:200 SR-71A, HE573283, explicitly lists landing gear but no stand. Choose it with an undercarriage-supported display in mind unless a separate compatible support has been confirmed.

The Danish F-35A, HE573603, also excludes a stand. The fact that the Qantas A220 includes one in 1:200 does not transfer that feature to the F-35.

The 1:500 American A320, HE538879, is another no-stand example. For an airport apron scene that may suit your plan; for an in-flight-style desk display it creates an additional purchasing question.

Does a stand mean the landing gear retracts?

No. A stand supports the aircraft above a surface; it does not by itself establish retractable gear, interchangeable gear pieces or opening gear doors. Those are separate construction details.

Do not pull on a wheel assembly simply because you prefer a wheels-up appearance. Check the supplied instructions for the exact model. An aircraft shown on a stand can still retain its undercarriage, and that may be the supported configuration.

Buying a separate support

Confirm the underside mounting arrangement, the support's rated model compatibility and the balance of the complete aircraft. A stand labeled for a scale is not guaranteed to fit every aircraft in that scale.

A broad-wing model, a long airliner and a compact fighter place different demands on a base. Avoid adhesive or clamp solutions that could mark the finish or load a delicate component. Choose a separately documented fit rather than modifying a collectible to suit an assumed universal stand.

Plan for the stand and the package

The aircraft's listed length and wingspan are not the dimensions of its stand base or its height when mounted. A display cover must clear the tail and the chosen support position. For a packaged collection, measure the retail box separately.

For a gift, select a model with a documented included stand when that is essential. For an airport scene, prioritize the correct aircraft and undercarriage presentation. Let the intended display decide which feature is useful rather than treating a stand as a universal quality upgrade.
