1968 Hot Wheels Custom Camaro — Spectraflame Purple

Hot Wheels produced the 1968 Custom Camaro in Spectraflame Purple, one of the finishes seen across this Redline-era casting family.

About the Custom Camaro

Hot Wheels introduced the Custom Camaro in its original 1968 lineup. The model is based on Chevrolet’s 1967 Camaro and measures about 70 mm. The casting has a metal chassis, plastic interior, opening hood, and redline wheels.

Hot Wheels produced this variation in Spectraflame Purple.

U.S. and Hong Kong production

Collectors distinguish the two production versions by construction details. Hong Kong examples have blue-tinted windshield glass, a more detailed base, a large steering wheel that projects through the interior, and door lines on the sides. U.S. examples have clear glass, a raised dashboard, a smaller steering wheel molded into the interior, and no side door lines.

Roof color, interior color, wheel details, and base features also vary. A black roof appears on some examples; it is separate from the body finish.
