How to Photograph Hot Wheels for Identification and Value Reports

Photograph the details that separate one variation from another

Use bright, even lighting and a plain background. Avoid filters, reflections and heavy digital sharpening.

Loose cars

  1. Front three-quarter view
  2. Rear three-quarter view
  3. Both sides
  4. Top
  5. Base with all text readable
  6. Close views of wheels, tampos, interior and glass
  7. Any damage, errors or modifications

Carded cars

  1. Full front and back of card
  2. Card corners and hanger
  3. Blister edges and seals
  4. Assortment, series and production information
  5. Close views of the car through the blister

Photographs should document the actual car being submitted. Do not use another collector's image without permission.
