1992 Hot Wheels Recycling Truck #143: Orange Recycler Guide

The 1992 Hot Wheels Recycling Truck #143 is orange with colorful Recycler side graphics and blackwall wheels. It is not the later green Department of Sanitation truck. Match the artwork and wheels before buying a vintage example.

Identify orange #143
The Recycling Truck catalog lists item 2073 with blue, yellow and pink decoration, black windows and a black Malaysia base. Similar orange cars use seven-spoke wheels in later entries. The bright-green #143 and fluorescent Biohazard #719 are distinct configurations, not ordinary shade differences.
A different refuse truck for a larger display

This separate 1:32 Freightliner display model is item NR11033. Inspect its current gallery for the refuse body, wheels and packaging. Check current availability and the exact offer on its product page.
Prefer assembly? The AMT Ford C-900 GarWood kit is a separate 1:25 assembly project. Check the current kit gallery and product details before buying supplies; it is not a ready-built vehicle.
Inspect the side box and printed lettering
Ask for both complete side panels and an overhead view. Check the small lettering and colored shapes for rubbing, replacement decals and touch-ups. A cropped image of only the cab can hide the details that identify the release.
Inspect the rear and attachment areas for cracks or repairs. Ask what parts are present and whether anything has been replaced. Do not assume a loading or dumping function from the real truck's purpose; verify the actual toy before trying to move a part.
Compare wheels and base evidence
Request wheel-face close-ups and the underside. A later wheel configuration should not be silently labeled 1992 just because the body is orange. Ask about wheel swaps and opened fasteners when an originality claim matters.
For a carded example, request the full front and back, blister seam and hanger. Ask about lifting and resealing. A loose vehicle beside a detached card does not establish an original pairing.
Choose a collecting format and compare fairly
For a loose display, prioritize complete components and the condition you enjoy seeing. For a packaged collection, judge the car and card separately. Use dated completed sales of matching wheels, graphics and condition, separating single cars from sets and including delivery costs.
The old catalog's price column is not a current appraisal, and a modern New Ray or AMT product belongs to a different price comparison. For more small vehicles, browse loose Hot Wheels.
Recycling Truck questions
Is green the original color described here?
No. This guide identifies the orange 1992 Recycler configuration.
Is the New Ray product a Hot Wheels #143?
No. It is a larger, separately labeled Freightliner model.
Does the AMT kit arrive finished?
No. It is an assembly project; check the current listing and kit instructions for the supplies you need.
Keep the rear assembly in the condition record
Read Recycler lettering on both panels and then inspect the rear structure. A clean logo cannot establish complete attachments, and a green truck requires a different release comparison. Choose the separately offered Freightliner for its own larger-scale display or the Ford kit for assembly; neither product establishes the orange Hot Wheels' original operation.
| Question | Useful view | What to record |
