Casting Info

A music-themed decoration on the familiar ’67 Camaro body.

The Punk Rock Camaro

This release uses the ’67 Camaro body with a red finish and oversized black Punk Rock lettering along its sides. Black-and-white checks cover the fender areas, while a dark jagged accent runs below the lettering. Those graphics provide a much stronger match than red paint alone.

The model is part of Motorin’ Music, a five-car gift pack carrying reference 25372. Mattel’s historical list places the Music pack under 2000. The photographed package reverse also has a 2000 copyright, although copyright dates alone should not be used to date every Hot Wheels release.

The same Camaro casting appears in many other colors and themes. Use the complete combination of body shape, printing and wheel style when matching a loose car to this issue.

Variation Summary

The red Camaro sits in the top compartment of the pictured example.

Match the decoration and the actual pack

The featured Camaro has three curved spokes in each bright wheel face. Collectors call this directional pattern Saw Blade, abbreviated SB. It differs from the separate wheel design cataloged as 3SP. Do not describe these as ordinary five-spoke wheels or infer rubber tires from their dark appearance in the blister.

In this photographed pack the other four cars are a green Mustang convertible, white Purple Passion, black Twin Mill with Heavy Metal printing and a blue Cadillac convertible. Mattel’s historical list names a ’58 Corvette in the assortment; the photographed package contains a Twin Mill instead. Compare photographs of the actual package before treating every companion-car list as interchangeable.

Reference 25372 identifies the gift pack. It is not a collector number printed on a separate Camaro single card. A loose Camaro can be matched by its decoration, but the photograph of a complete pack does not prove the history of any other loose example.

Physical Details

Small chips can interrupt the high-contrast graphics.

Check the lettering, checks and wheel faces

Inspect the white checker squares at both ends of the body, the edges of the Punk Rock letters and the thin dark accents below them. Paint loss on a wheel arch can resemble a gap in the decoration when viewed from a distance.

Compare both sides of a loose model and examine the roof and hood separately. The package photograph gives a useful side view, but reflections and the viewing angle limit what it reveals about the upper surfaces and cabin. Interior color, underside lettering and base country are not assigned from this image.

On a loose example, look for matching wheel faces, straight axles and evidence of replacement parts. A wheel swap is not evidence of a factory variation. Record a suspected difference with clear photographs before comparing it with documented releases.

Packaging Details

The package reference and reverse artwork help identify the presentation.

Blue Motorin’ Music gift-pack packaging

The blue sleeve carries a Hot Wheels logo above five vertically arranged compartments and the Motorin’ Music name below them. Reference 25372 appears near the hanging tab. The pictured sleeve shows wear along its edges; that wear is part of the original photograph.

The reverse advertises track accessories, including Wreck ’n Roll and Cosmic Blast sets. These illustrations do not mean those sets are included. The contents shown on the front are the five vehicles.

The lower reverse has a 2000 Mattel copyright and a general statement allowing China, Malaysia or Thailand as marked. That wording is not an individual origin identification for the Camaro. A readable underside photograph would be needed to confirm its country marking.

When assessing a sealed pack, inspect the outer sleeve, clear window, tray and closure. A complete loose group and a factory-sealed pack are different collecting formats, even when all five cars match.

Buying & Value — Collector Reference

Compare like-for-like examples

For value research, compare completed sales with the same Camaro decoration and wheel style. Keep loose-car results separate from five-pack results. For packs, check the companion cars and packaging condition instead of relying only on the title.

Record paint wear, printing loss, wheel condition and any replaced parts. For packaged examples, add sleeve creases, window scratches and closure condition. No current price range or production total is assigned without supporting evidence.
