Casting Info

Car Craft branding connects this model to Editor’s Choice Series 1.

A magazine-themed Camaro release

Editor’s Choice paired Hot Wheels models with motoring-magazine themes. The reverse of this package describes a collaboration involving Hot Rod, Rod & Custom, Car Craft and Sport Truck. This Camaro appears under Car Craft, alongside a ’67 Pontiac GTO in the reverse’s illustrated lineup.

The featured model is the familiar ’67 Camaro casting in orange with a black roof. Large black Camaro lettering spans the lower sides, while black stripes cross the hood and trunk. A smaller Camaro marking appears across the windshield, and the Editor’s Choice emblem sits on the trunk.

The card identifies the model as number 4 of 16. That number describes its position in the series; it does not mean only sixteen Camaros were made. The matching catalog entry dates reference 28015 to 2000, and the reverse carries a 2000 copyright.

Variation Summary

Use the color, lettering, wheels and card together.

Match reference 28015

The combination to look for is orange paint, black roof and stripes, prominent side lettering and bright Pro Circuit five-spoke wheels. The top-right card panel prints ’67 Camaro, #4 of 16 and 28015. The reverse repeats the reference as part of the longer packaging code 28015-0910 G1.

The front also carries a Target logo. South Texas Diecast identifies the release as a Target exclusive and records a black interior, clear windows and an unpainted Thailand base. The packaged photographs support the visible body and wheel features, but do not show the car’s underside. Treat its base finish and country as catalog information until a readable base photograph confirms an individual example.

A seller’s country field is not a substitute for that photograph. Likewise, another orange Camaro with black stripes can be a different release. Compare the side lettering and trunk emblem before deciding that two cars match.

Physical Details

Scratches on the clear packaging can obscure the model.

Inspect the graphics through the blister

The close side photograph shows the Camaro lettering and five-spoke wheel faces clearly. Look around the wheel arches and along the lower body for paint wear, and check whether the black printing remains continuous.

The blister has visible scuffs and reflections. Small bright spots seen through it cannot automatically be assigned to chipped paint on the toy. A loose example should be photographed from both sides, above and below to separate surface damage from reflections.

Check the black roof edges, paired stripes and windshield lettering. On a loose model, compare all four wheels for matching design and finish, and look for axle or rivet alterations before treating an unusual wheel combination as a factory variation.

The catalog describes the interior as black. The cabin looks dark in these package views, but the blister limits fine detail; no additional interior or base markings are inferred from it.

Packaging Details

The large yellow car is printed artwork above the orange toy.

Car Craft artwork and the original card

The blue card uses a Car Craft cover design, an Editor’s Choice Series 1 badge and a clear lower blister. The large yellow full-size car in the cover artwork is different from the orange Camaro inside. Use the actual toy and the model-name panel for identification.

The reverse explains the magazine collaboration and illustrates several models in the series. It carries copyright 2000 and a general manufacturing statement listing China, India, Malaysia or Thailand as marked. That statement does not identify which country is marked on this particular Camaro.

Check the hanging tab, corners, printed surface, blister clarity and seal when comparing carded examples. The featured card has visible wear, retained in the original photographs. A protective case, if added by a seller, would not establish the originality of the blister seal.

Buying & Value — Collector Reference

Compare the same Editor’s Choice issue

Use completed sales for Camaro 28015 with the same decoration and wheels. Separate loose examples from carded ones and distinguish card wear from damage to the model. Asking prices alone do not establish current value.

For a loose car, record paint and printing condition, wheel finish and signs of modification. For a carded model, add tab damage, creases, blister scratches and seal condition. No production total or current price range is assigned here.
