Choose a Tamiya project by the subject you want to build, the finished display size and the assembly work you enjoy. A road car, racing car and motorcycle can share a familiar vehicle name but call for very different painting and construction plans.

Choose the exact kit

Start with the exact kit number and scale. Compare the vehicle generation, road or competition specification and any alternate parts described in the listing. Decide whether your goal is a simple closed-body display or visible engine and chassis detail; the name alone does not establish which details are supplied.

Plan supplies and display space

Read the kit instructions before buying cement and paint. Match adhesive to the material and finish of the part: ordinary styrene cement, an adhesive suitable for clear parts and an adhesive for metal are different choices. Build a paint list from the selected kit rather than assuming supplies are included. Leave space for construction as well as the finished model.
