Bone Shaker #006: identify the version, not just the name

The Bone Shaker reference lists the 2006 First Editions release under J3247. Black examples have both standard five-spoke and Faster Than Ever wheel records; flat-brown and dark-red examples are also documented. A black promotional version has different side lettering, so black paint alone does not identify the release.

For a listing you are considering, compare the side graphics, wheels and underside together. A product title reading only “Bone Shaker” leaves those questions unanswered. A later Bone Shaker or a wheel-swapped example can still be a good display car, but it should not be entered as an untouched 2006 version without supporting details.

Start with the Bone Shaker product search. For a modified display model, browse finished custom Hot Wheels; for an original release, look for a listing that identifies its factory version.

Toyota AE-86 Corolla #002: a useful variation case

The AE-86 reference records J3243 for the 2006 First Editions release. Its white and flat-gray examples have different documented wheel combinations. The white car's red-and-black decoration includes IMAI lettering. Match the complete combination instead of relying on the general AE86 name.

In your own notes, keep the source spelling “AE-86 Corolla” alongside any seller spelling such as “AE86.” That helps find relevant listings without merging different body designs. A useful buying note might be “2006 #002, white, red five-spokes; underside photograph needed.” The last part records what remains unverified rather than treating it as fact.

The Toyota collection and Datsun collection are broader shopping routes. They can contain other brands, scales and years, so compare individual products with the numbered list.

2006 Treasure Hunts: twelve named releases

The Treasure Hunt group is #039–050. A replacement wheel set does not establish factory chase status. Verify the specific release using its graphics, finish, wheels and packaging. A name containing “Super,” such as Super Tsunami, is not itself a Treasure Hunt designation.

Custom '59 Cadillac #042

The Cadillac reference distinguishes black-interior and white-interior examples of the blue 2006 Treasure Hunt, both under J3284. This makes a photograph through the windows especially useful. “Blue Cadillac Treasure Hunt” is not enough to settle which interior is present.

Keep a visible detail separate from a claim about rarity or value. An interior difference can help identify a variant, but this guide supplies neither a production quantity nor a current sale price. Historical price-guide columns are not completed-sale evidence for today's market.

Repeated names need their release numbers

CUL8R appears at #047 in Treasure Hunts and #120 in Track Aces. The Corvette C6 appears at #048 and #154. Hummer H3T appears at #046 and #173. Keep the number and series beside the casting name when making a shopping list; otherwise an ordinary release can accidentally be counted as the chase you were looking for.

Buying originals and building customs are different goals

For an original collector example, ask for photographs of both sides, the top, wheels and underside. Check for repainting, replacement components, opened rivets, cracked glazing and bent axles. For a packaged example, compare the car with the card and inspect the blister and seal. Record vehicle condition separately from packaging condition.

For a custom project, prioritize the body and components needed for your build. A worn ordinary example might suit a project better than paying for a particular factory variation you intend to modify. Custom wheels, rubber tires and upgrade axles are sold separately. Original components included with a DIY kit depend on its listing. Check wheel diameter, axle length and body clearance; a shared casting name is not a guarantee that a wheel set fits.

A factory casting can include “Custom” in its official name, as with Custom '59 Cadillac. That is different from a particular car being modified after manufacture. Keep those meanings separate when comparing carded releases, loose cars and finished customs.
