2023 Hot Wheels Casting List

The HW 55 Race Team mini-series

The five HW 55 Race Team entries are Turbine Sublime #039, Dodge Van #066, Erikenstein Rod #086, Mod Rod #111 and HW-4-Trac #159. Mod Rod is the regular Treasure Hunt in this group. A 55th-anniversary product from a separate assortment does not automatically belong to this mini-series.

Use the series filter to view these five together. For something to buy, start with the 2023 Hot Wheels collection or the casting-specific searches in the table.

New casting is not the same as first mainline release

The New casting filter marks 50 entries using the 2023 new-model classification, cross-checked with the case-by-case new-model tracker. Examples include Ford Escort RS2000, BMW 507 and McLaren Solus GT. A recolor, revised tool and first appearance in the basic mainline are different events.

The 1968 Mazda Cosmo Sport #118 had already appeared in Car Culture before 2023. Its mainline debut is noted separately rather than counted as its first-ever Hot Wheels casting. Collector references can classify retools differently; the sources below explain the scope used here.

Read annual and mini-series numbers separately

For the Mazda Cosmo Super, 118/250 is the annual collector number, 9/10 is its HW J-Imports position and HKL20 is the documented Super product code. None of those numbers is a production quantity. The ordinary Cosmo is not a Super merely because its name and annual slot match.

The table supplies chase codes where the marked version is documented. It does not assign those codes to every recolor or package variation. Record the card's information separately from the base markings, particularly when comparing a loose car with a carded reference.

Keep legitimate repeated names

Corvette Grand Sport Roadster #014 belongs to HW Roadsters, while #154 belongs to HW Screen Time. Both are documented numbered entries. Likewise, Tesla Roadster appears at #217 and #249; compare the specific casting and card instead of merging records on name alone.

The model year in a name is not necessarily the release year: 2024 GMC Hummer EV #184 is listed in the 2023 HW Screen Time assortment. Keep “vehicle model year” and “Hot Wheels release year” as separate fields.

Loose cars: judge the actual condition

Check paint edges, decoration wear, window scratches, missing parts, axle alignment and changes around the base fasteners. Ask whether photos show the exact item. A loose car is not automatically mint or factory-original, and an attractive display piece is not a guarantee of track performance.

Browse loose Hot Wheels, then compare the selected release with your missing checklist position. A broad casting search may return several years and modified cars.

Carded cars: inspect car and package separately

Look for blister cracks, lifting or resealing, card creases, worn corners and label residue. Record package condition separately from the car. Confirm the collector number and mini-series on the pictured card instead of relying on a seller's shortened title.

The carded Hot Wheels and Matchbox collection includes both brands. Check the selected listing's manufacturer, release, contents and availability.

DIY projects: confirm components and fit

Choose the casting shape you want to customize, then inspect body condition, wheel openings and chassis clearance. Plan the preparation and tools before assembly. Compare wheel dimensions and test-fit components instead of treating every axle or tire as a universal fit.

Start with Build Your Own Hot Wheels DIY kits. Custom wheels, rubber tires and upgrade axles are sold separately. Original included components depend on the individual kit listing. Select compatible upgrades from the wheels and tires collection.

Finished customs: separate the build from the factory release

Read the stated changes to paint, graphics, wheels and stance, then compare the pictured finish. A factory model with “Custom” in its casting name is not necessarily an aftermarket build. Record later modifications separately from its original identity.

Shop finished Custom Hot Wheels, custom-painted cars or custom Hot Wheels gassers for modified display builds. Do not confuse those modifications with factory Treasure Hunt status.
