2022 Hot Wheels List & Collector Checklist

The five-car Chevy Bel Air mini-series

The 2022 Chevy Bel Air group includes '55 Chevy #020, '55 Chevy Bel Air Gasser #043, '57 Chevy #044, '59 Chevy Impala #070 and Big-Air Bel-Air #112. The '55 Chevy has a separate Super Treasure Hunt version; the similar name of the Bel Air Gasser does not give it the same chase status.

Start with Chevrolet diecast models for broader shopping. For a completed aftermarket build rather than an original factory release, browse custom Hot Wheels gassers.

New shapes, not just new paint

2022 debut entries include the Nissan Z Proto, Nissan Maxima Drift Car, Volvo 240 Drift Wagon, '20 Toyota Tacoma and GMC Hummer EV. Their different body shapes offer distinct collecting and project possibilities; wheel or axle fit still needs to be checked on the individual casting.

The New castings filter marks 50 entries using the 2022 debut tracker with mainline-debut distinctions from Hall's Guide. Tesla Roadster #162 and Nissan Skyline 2000GT-R LBWK #174 are recorded separately as mainline debuts rather than first-ever casting appearances. New-to-mainline notes are selected examples, not an exhaustive list of retools.

Annual number versus mini-series position

For the documented Civic EK9 Super, 125/250 is the annual collector number, 5/5 is its HW Hatchbacks position and HCY12 identifies the Super release. None is a production quantity. An ordinary Civic with the same annual number is not automatically a Super.

Codes shown in this checklist's chase column belong to the indicated TH or Super. Do not apply them to every recolor, short card or earlier release with a matching casting name. Keep package information separate from what you can actually observe on a loose car.

Repeated names can be legitimate

Porsche 935 #012 sits in HW Turbo, while Porsche 935 #132 sits in Retro Racers. Both positions belong in the reference. Compare the actual car and package rather than merging entries because their names match.

Keep Tooned '83 Chevy Silverado #104 separate from '83 Chevy Silverado #114. The stylized Tooned casting and conventional pickup are not interchangeable checklist entries or guaranteed to accept identical custom parts.

Loose cars and display gaps

Inspect paint edges, decoration wear, scratched windows, missing parts, axle alignment and signs of changes around the base fasteners. Check whether the photos show the exact car. Loose does not automatically mean mint or original, and a display description is not a guarantee of track performance.

Shop loose Hot Wheels and use the casting's number and series to narrow your comparison. When a search finds nothing, shorten the query to the distinctive casting name before assuming the model has never been listed.

Carded examples

Check blister cracks, lifting or possible resealing, creases, softened corners and label residue. Grade the package separately from the car. Confirm the collector number, series and version on the pictured card rather than relying on a shortened product title.

The carded Hot Wheels and Matchbox collection includes both brands. Confirm the brand, exact release, contents and current availability in the selected listing.

DIY and wheel-swap projects

Choose a casting shape you want to build, then inspect the body condition, wheel openings and chassis clearance. Plan the tools and preparation before assembly, and compare wheel and axle measurements. Parts that suit a Silverado may not fit a Tooned Silverado or a different generation of Civic.

Start with Build Your Own Hot Wheels DIY kits. Custom wheels, rubber tires and upgrade axles are sold separately. Original included components depend on the individual kit listing. Compare upgrades in the Hot Wheels and Matchbox wheels and tires collection.

Finished customs

Read the stated changes to paint, wheels, graphics and stance, then inspect the pictured finish. The word “Custom” can be part of a factory casting name, such as Custom Ford Bronco; that name alone does not mean the listed car was modified after manufacture.

Browse Custom Hot Wheels with rubber tires or custom-painted Hot Wheels for completed builds. Keep their modifications separate from the original release record and factory-chase status.
