2014 Hot Wheels List & Collector Checklist

Collection links may include other years, brands, scales and custom builds. Every collection-linked casting also has a product search. Check the actual listing for the exact version, condition and availability; this checklist is not an inventory or price list.

2014 mainline checklist: #001–250

How the 2014 collection is organized

The four main groups divide the annual checklist into useful collecting targets: HW City #001–100, HW Off-Road #101–140, HW Race #141–190 and HW Workshop #191–250. Each contains smaller themed groups. “HW Race” and “Race Team” are not interchangeable labels: the latter is one ten-car segment within the broader racing group. The searchable group headings retain both levels.

Mustang 50th: ten subjects, not ten Supers

The Mustang anniversary segment occupies #091–100 and ranges from older body styles to the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. Two positions have documented Super counterparts: 1971 Mustang Mach 1 #094 and ’07 Ford Mustang #095. The other names do not inherit that designation simply because they share the segment. Use the Mustang collection to compare related models, then verify the individual car’s generation, decoration and wheels.

Then and Now: related subjects remain separate

The closing part of the list pairs earlier and later subjects, including Twin Mill and Twin Mill III, Toyota AE-86 Corolla and Scion FR-S, and two generations of Skyline. Matching a vehicle family is only the start of identification. A Nissan collection link can help you find candidates, but it cannot establish whether a listing is the H/T 2000GT-X at #225 or the R34 at #230.

Numbering and packaging exceptions worth recording

Rev Rod and HW Poppa Wheelie: the reference assigns Rev Rod to #087 and HW Poppa Wheelie to #125, while documenting cards with those numbers reversed. This checklist preserves the intended positions and notes the package errors. A photograph of the card and the actual casting is more useful than an isolated printed number.

Later cards do not create extra slots: the variation register includes selected retailer versions packed on 2015 cards. The yellow ’07 Mustang retailer release is also recorded with a #094 printing error. Such records should be kept as package/variation notes rather than used to overwrite the main #094 Mustang Mach 1 identity.

Repeated Stingray names: the source lists Corvette Stingray releases separately at #207 and #228. Keep both annual positions when cataloguing them. Likewise, Chevy Silverado #132 is not the same casting as ’83 Chevy Silverado #136. A name-only duplicate removal would lose useful identification distinctions.

Unresolved reference fields: Avant Garde’s package code is withheld because the source repeats a code also attached to the Tumbler. The Sandblaster Super code differs between the broad year reference and the chase index; its identity is shown, but the code is not treated as settled. The #229 COPO Camaro entry retains both model-year labels used by the release reference. Check original packaging before assigning those disputed details.

Treasure Hunts, Supers and promotional hunts

The filters separate 15 Treasure Hunt entries from 15 casting positions with Super counterparts. TH identifies the designated regular Treasure Hunt release. A Super counterpart requires a match to the documented factory version; the ordinary release remains ordinary. Compare the finish, decoration, wheels and package together rather than relying on paint color or a seller’s title.

For example, the Super register identifies the ’71 Datsun Bluebird 510 Wagon at #206 with code BFF31, the ’55 Chevy Bel Air Gasser at #241 with BFF38, and Twin Mill at #221 with BFF35. The checklist keeps their standard codes separate from those Super codes. Browse Datsun models or custom gassers according to your goal; a modified gasser is not a factory Super.

The year reference also records a separate, unnumbered four-car Mission Madness Scavenger Hunt promotion: Bone Shaker, ’06 Dodge Viper SRT10, ’66 Chevy Nova and Triumph TR6. It is not added to the 250 numbered positions or silently mixed with the Treasure Hunt filter. Other premium lines, multipacks and promotions require their own checklists.

Identify a variation, not just a casting

Record the annual number, series, exact name, color, graphics, wheels, base details and packaging when available. A product code can narrow the search but does not automatically resolve every manufacturing or package variation. “Second color” is an ambiguous label unless your notes also state which finish it describes.

The vehicle-model year within a name is not the same as the assortment year. A 2015 Ford Mustang GT can be part of this 2014 reference. Nor does a later purchase date move a car to another annual checklist. For loose examples, compare multiple visible features; the copyright date on the base alone is insufficient to assign an exact release.

Buying, condition and customization

For a loose car, compare both sides, roof, wheels and base. Check paint wear, axle alignment, cracked windows, missing components and any signs of opening or repair. For a carded car, inspect the blister, seal, corners and printed identification as well as the car inside. Keep packaging condition separate from vehicle condition when comparing listings.

A casting name containing “Custom” does not by itself mean that an individual car was modified after manufacture. Conversely, an aftermarket paint job or wheel swap does not create a factory chase. Describe restored and modified cars accurately, and compare the exact release before relying on another sale as a value reference.

Custom wheels, rubber tires and upgrade axles are sold separately. Original included components depend on the individual DIY kit listing. A casting link is not a promise that any wheel set fits it. Current carded cars, loose cars and custom cars have different collecting purposes; choose deliberately.

Sources and scope

Numbering, series, selected codes and new-model flags use the South Texas Diecast 2014 release reference. Chase identities were compared with HW Treasure’s 2014 Treasure Hunts and 2014 Supers. This page covers numbered mainline positions, not every regional package, wheel variation, premium line or promotion. New-model flags follow the source classification.

Reference images remain with the linked publishers. No generic picture is presented as proof of an exact release. Hot Wheels is a Mattel trademark; Muncle Mikes is an independent retailer and collector resource.
